I recently watched an episode of Jesse Michels’ “American Alchemy” where he interviewed Lynn Buchanon, a former DOD careerist and remote viewer. The episode focused largely on remote viewing. Whatever you views on that subject, I invite you to suspend them for the moment for my intention in writing this article is a bit different than discussing remote viewing. What I am proposing here is to write an essay essentially stating that in service we know God. We love God and of course this is done by serving.
If you are still with me after that mix of themes, buckle up, because it is going to get a lot weirder.
In the interview Mr. Buchanon stated that he had remote viewed a number of famous individuals include Mikail Gorbachev and Saddam Hussein. Various sites, times in history, planets, and even God. I know this is a stretch, but whether he actually remote viewed the Creator of the Universe is beside the point. It was what he said God told him that is of particular significance. He said and I am paraphrasing that God told him that He no longer gives to us but through us. Now, let that sink in for a moment. What exactly does that mean.
What is it that is the meaning of life you might as well ask. As you have. To know God. To love God. And to serve God. There are many more eloquent iterations of the same thought, but the example of Mr. Buchanon serves perfectly. In his experience he claimed to have “known God”. That is, he was confronted with a “something” that he took to be God. That he claimed was filled with love and that filled him with love. Such is to love God it seems. But what comes next is most astounding. He gives through us.
What is that you ask. Our actions. Our words. And even our thoughts. But perhaps most important way if your leg is broken and your house is on fire he is most likely to act through whomever pulls you from the fames and carries you to the hospital. And if I may digress for a moment, though it serves a point I will make later, to state that in a reasonable probability the person who “saved” you from the flames is a most objectional human being by all conceivable standards. He could be a wife beater. An alcoholic. A general stain on society. Yet he goes to work day in and day out for low pay little recognition and for no other reason than to be dare I say become an instrument of God by pulling you out of the fire.
Stay with me. First, the “stain on society”. Of course this could be a very small number and all first responders are saints. So be it. But someone is out there. Cowering in the shadows or raging behind the wheel moments before a DUI. Second, “an instrument of God”. Yes. Call it fate. Call it whatever you want but there no atheists in times of trouble. True trouble. They will find something. And when they do they will cling to it body and soul. Anyone who has ever prayed for something and received it in the most unexpected way knows what I am saying. I experienced this once most powerfully myself. I had helped a friend of a friend fix the immigration papers, process, and then visa for his mother to arrive in the United States. After years of run around, thousands of dollars, and just general malaise of being separated from what you love some random dude pops into his life who married some friend of your mother. No charge. No hassle. And that woman was in the U.S. by year’s end. I was just doing a favor mostly to keep my wife from bothering me and it was not much trouble on my part. But I realized that this guy must have been praying for this moment for years. And maybe there was a moment that he lost hope. Then all of a sudden some random dude marries your mother’s childhood friend. Perhaps I am wrong but what were the chances that that random dude had just quit his job in Washington D.C. and moved to Colombia to marry a woman he met in the airport on vacation (see. The Colonel Writes To Everyone). Add to that this random dude was a lawyer who had never done immigration law in his life nor wanted to but then changed his mind and wanted to because he learned first hand what it is to be an immigrant. An immigrant in a strange yet beautiful place where you do NOT speak the language. It was eye opening. Honestly, and ontological shock. So fast forward and this random dude starts working for ICE where he learns of lot of things. First and foremost that they are awful and he quit. But more importantly a love for helping immigrants. So much that he would just do it for him because it really was not a big deal. And what if that marriage had been on the rocks and they had divorced. Then that chain would have been broken. Yet it was NOT. Why? Why? Why?
But I digress. I am speaking of actions. And God acting through us. The religious motto featured above said “to serve God”. How do we serve. With our actions. Everything we do. We serve the man. No. We serve Him. But how. Everything we do is the only way I can answer that. But for me, it was just doing something that I truly did not think was such a big deal. Better. Way better than asking me to help you move. Because I will say no. Every time. No. But something like explaining to someone how to do something in video chat for hours and hours. And showing them how to cut and paste and do it over and over. Why. Because the U.S. immigration system is BROKEN. And it is really hard to navigate. But just doing that.
If you consider “I will serve.” Serviam, if you like Latin. Non Serviam if you do not. A horrible joke, but my point is made within. Non Serviam. Who said that. It was Lucifer himself. And why was this such a bad things to say. You have just in that moment rejected God. And to the depths he fell. Abandon hope all ye who enter. Yes it was very bad. But on a lighter note.
You can simply act. But it is the thought component now that is important. Because why do act. Does it matter. Because could not even a bad act produce a good result. Let us not delve too deeply into St. Thomas Aquinas. Or at all. What I mean to say is that yes of course some acts are better than others. Blah blah bhah. I am simply talking about the day to day hum drum of just showing up. I wrote down above in how I helped that one person but it could have been helping him move. But that was not my purpose. Maybe is you, my reader or someone you know, I do not profess to know.
Now, bring it back. What does this have to do with remote viewing. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. But Jesse Michel’s has a very cool podcast and I will watch him again. But nothing at all to do with remote viewing. I am writing about service. And I think part of the problem of “serviam” is we or I do not have any idea what that is. But it seems that it would not be an altogether bad idea to say yes. I will serve.
Then what. Oh, this is the exciting part. Think about that for a moment. Let that sink. What if. Not everyone, mind you. But what if a group of people. Enough to just offset the balance. Enough to get noticed. What if enough of these people said SERVIAM. What then. I think you have a problem for the establishment. I think you have a Brave New World. I think you have what anyone in power who holds it for the wrong reasons. Anyone who hordes wealth. Anyone who is unwilling to say SERVIAM. You will be their enemy because you are now a threat. What you have is the kingdom of God. It is here among us now. Right here. If you had just enough people then you could affect a change. And if you had a little more you could effect a revolution. And even a little more a complete and total change of the world.
I honestly do not know how my thoughts above line up or are out of line or are heresy even for the Vatican. But it does not seem that I am saying anything wrong or inherently bad. One problem though that we as a group that I think is holding us back is that we have the wrong model of men and women. Mankind. Humanity. Whatever. In Genesis we learn that because Eve at the forbidden fruit along with Adam they toil all their days. Work. Work. Work. And that sounds horrid. Work is awful. It is. Let us be honest. But what if you can act through you as you “work”. What is it anyway. Such a dumb concept. Just do what you need. Fetch water. Chop wood. It is not inherently bad. Who cares. How would we know any different. But wait. What if we consciously acted in such a way that a group of us formed and then well you know.
So if you leave Genesis behind. And just forget it actually. It is not helping you. Just focus on the service. SERVIAM. Say it with me.
My next post will likely cover aliens but probably not in the way you think.
